2 Days in Bogotá: The Perfect Itinerary
How to spend 2 days in Bogotá: La Candelaria, the Gold Museum, Monserrate and a day trip to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral.

Colombia's high-altitude capital rewards travelers with history, world-class museums, mountain views and great food. Two days is enough to see the highlights.
Day 1 — Historic center and views
Start in La Candelaria, the colonial old town: cobbled streets, Plaza de Bolívar and the unmissable Gold Museum (Museo del Oro), home to one of the world's finest pre-Columbian gold collections. A graffiti tour here is a traveler favorite.
In the afternoon, ride the funicular or cable car up Monserrate (3.152 m) for a panoramic view of the whole city — spectacular at sunset.
Don't miss
- La Candelaria and the Gold Museum
- Bogotá graffiti tour
- Sunset from Monserrate
Day 2 — Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral
Take a day trip to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, a cathedral carved 180 meters underground inside a working salt mine — considered the "First Wonder of Colombia." Back in the city, explore the Usaquén neighborhood or a food tour in the evening.
Practical tips
- Bogotá is cool (around 14°C/57°F) — bring a jacket and layers.
